CEO Alejandro Rojas presents to the Science Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Ministry of Science of Chile on nanobody-based solutions for the treatment of emerging viruses.

Through years of relentless work—navigating scientific, logistical, and even pandemic-related challenges—we succeeded. Today, we presented three neutralizing, potentially therapeutic antibodies candidates to the Science Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, offering a powerful tool in the fight against Hantavirus.

This journey has often felt like a scene from Don Quixote:
Sancho: “Look, your grace, those over there are not giants but windmills.”
Don Quixote: “They are giants, and if you are afraid, step aside and pray while I go forth to engage them in fierce and unequal battle.”

Nicole and I know we are not just facing great challenges—we are facing impossible ones. There is no current funding mechanism or short-term agenda for this work. Yet, here we stand, offering Chile a scientific breakthrough—a potential lifesaving therapy for Hantavirus.
Now, the real question is: Who will join us in this fight?

Someone once told me, “There are so many needs in our country, and only a few people get Hantavirus each year.”
At first, I reflected on this, but then I realized how misleading this argument is. If we invest now in tackling Hantavirus, we can save millions in medical costs—funds that could then be redirected to address other pressing healthcare needs.

Thank you to the members of Parliament Cámara de Diputadas y Diputados de Chile and the Minister of Science Aisen Etcheverry for listening. Together, we have the opportunity to stop Hantavirus and protect lives.
